Anyone had any joy in getting this to run on Win2K/XP? It looked like a reasonable purchase for my 8 year but I'm stuck on trying to get it to run. I run Win2K SP4 on a P3. App runs up but shuts down straight away with a 'app is created an error log' dialog. The DrWatsn trace shows some potential issue with DirectX (game was witten against DX5 and I'm on 9B). Any advice gratefully received.

The game's manual is in the CD and so, at least for the Windows version, is a complete walkthrough, so if one's own rugrat get stuck at some point it's possible to put them on the right track and score hero(ine) points at the same time.

Yep, I tried all the available modes and nothing made any difference. However, I've just got it to run. I used Dependency Walker to profile the application hoping to see what was being called that caused the crash (from the callstack it was a DDraw/GDI thing).

But to my surprise, using Depends, the game no longer crashes. I'd therefore say that it's perhaps the speed at which something is happening causing the crash?!

Anyways, my daughter will be happy now. Maybe this info might help someone. Although I somehow doubt there will be many people queuing up to play Rugrats - The Adventure Game Thanks!

Rugrats is one of those cartoons that is made for kids but appeals to people of all ages because of the jokes thrown in and its originality. Well, unfortunately the game isn't like this. Sure, it features some of the same humor and situations from the show, but I've found Rugrats to be more fun to watch than to play. I should note: THQ is aiming this game at kids--which is why many of the minigames and levels this title consists of are so easy, and why the graphics are so simple-looking.

Fair enough, but a solid game is a solid game no matter who it's geared toward. So here's the question I have: If this game is geared toward 7- and 8-year-olds, what 7- and 8-year-old likes a camera that's as dumb as a horse, and control as loose and sloppy as.well, you get the idea. The answer is simple. I suppose it's fun to control Chuckie or Tommy or one of the other 'rats around their house and in other locations, finding puzzle pieces and doing various activities if you're a Rugrats fanatic.

But then the game ends up being more of a novelty item than an actual video game--just another poster or window sticker. I suppose this would be fine if the game had a decent camera and a better feel. I label this one a rental.unless you're a BIG Rugrats fan and want some more memorabilia. Rugrats has picked up steam as more people have subscribed to cable and had access to Nickelodeon. The recent movie, books, toys, clothing, sheets, dolls and video games are further testament as to how popular this cartoon has become. In the game, Tommy Pickles must earn each of the pieces to his Reptar (kind of like a Tyrannosaurus Rex) puzzle by wandering through his house solving all different types of challenging little quests. In addition, each level contains Reptar Bars. After Tommy collects 15 Reptar Bars, he will earn bonus puzzle pieces. As soon as Tommy collects twelve puzzle pieces, he gets to play with a real Reptar wandering through town and busting buildings. Gameplay The game starts with Tommy wandering through his house looking for opportunities to earn puzzle pieces.

Each level has a trigger within the house to launch into the level. For example, for Tommy to try the Chuckie’s Glasses level, you must walk him up to the umbrella near the playpen and then push the triangle button. You also see text on the screen describing a level as well as giving you a description of how tough the level is.
