Gmc Intellilink Software Update
Shop at: Here we have retro fitted 2016 Apple CarPlay Technology into a 2015 GMC Sierra. We are able to add full.
A few old threads on this forum touched on it but I find it hard to believe there aren't any further developments. How do I know when there is an update or if I have the latest version? I've pulled up the developers menu that lists all my version numbers but how do I know if it's the latest? I hate to think this is one of those things where they won't update it unless you have a complaint. I'm sure a few of you will respond that updates can be found in TSBs. So my followup is has anyone found a way to access all TSBs for the truck?
Also, from everything I read the MyLink/IntelliLink system is opensource which should mean developers and modders can play with the code. Is there a database or any site where people have created their own builds for us to download? Thanks for your responses in advance! Edited July 12, 2015 by jasch1124.

GM Customer Care Good Evening Blair, Thank you for picking up on my inquiry. I just got off the phone with the a representative from the number you've provided. The rep said the MyLink unit is capable of accepting updates but only when there is an issue/bug that can be identified and rectified by an available update.
He said the Navigation maps will usually come out yearly, are at the expense of the consumer and are available for customers to do it themselves. He was extremely courteous and I will definitely contact that number again if I have any further questions. Just a little disappointed that new features will not be added to what I currently have. The next model year of the Silverado is expected to have Apple CarPlay. Since the hardware I have is capable of running it, it's a shame I won't be getting it. I bought mine in May 2015 and now I feel like I'm being punished for buying one of your vehicles a few months too early. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my truck.
Just wish the software that came with it wasn't considered obsolete with the release of the new one in September. Thanks again! Sent from my mobile using Tapatalk Edited July 16, 2015 by jasch1124. As TJay said, updates are only available for specific issues and depend on both hardware AND software versions installed.
To help with reception issues, TJay worked with the GM engineers to duplicate the issue and test solutions. It took a while for the 'calibration' to be released because it involved both hardware and software. I was amazed at how many different hardware part numbers there were in just the 2014 model year and once my hardware was replaced, there was a software update for that hardware version. The dealer tech had to plug into my truck, gather the current module information along with my VIN to determine what it needed. He ordered the hardware and then updated the software. There simply is not a table that I could look at to determine this.
